Who is funding BCOR?

The Colorectal Society of Australia and New Zealand (CSSANZ) is the principal funding body for BCOR.  The society members, consisting 280 Colorectal Surgeons across Australia and New Zealand have invested substantial funding to establish the audit and voluntarily input data.

Industry partners such as Medtronic have generously contributed funding to support the registry. At present, the registry receives no government funding, though high volume cancers such as colorectal cancer (the 3rd commonest cancer in Australia) have been identified as a high priority domain for the development of clinical quality registries by the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care.

A Monash University and Health Outcomes Australia study found that each dollar invested in Clinical Quality Registries returned from $2 to up to $7 to the health system in care improvements.
